Abstract
Abstract: Hamidi Shirazi is one of the poets with nostalgic themes in contemporary Iranian lyric literature. What are the most frequent nostalgic themes in Hamidi Shirazi's poems and how do they relate to each other? This research has analyzed the personal and social nostalgic themes in Mehdi Hamidi Shirazi's poems, in the retrospective and prospective sections, using a library method and a descriptive-analytical approach. For this purpose, the verses with nostalgic themes in the entire collection of Hamidi Shirazi's poems have been classified and subjected to quantitative and qualitative analysis based on the theoretical framework of the research. In Hamidi's poetry, personal themes have a greater share compared to social themes, and retrospective concepts have a greater share compared to prospective concepts. "Remembering the days of separation," "Remembering the days of youth," "Remembering lost loved ones," "Longing for childhood," and "Longing for a passing life" (among individual retrospective themes) and "Cultural and social archaism" (among social retrospective themes) have the highest frequency among the nostalgic themes of his poetry, respectively. The only future-oriented nostalgic theme in Hamidi's poetry that has the highest frequency after the above themes is the individual theme of "liberation from life."
